You Say, I Love You

You say “I love you,”

My body is smoke filled glass

Transparent and roiling

You see through me

To my heart

A red-cut-crystal with such fragile

Mechanical birds flitting around its edges

You can see every

Wrinkle, line and fold

Of my nude form

      next

                to

                    yours

You put the spark inside me

Held me up to the light

And turned me around and around

Until I was dizzy

Begging for more

Obeying your

e

lec

tricity

Crackling under your touch

I blow out only smoke

A single bird escapes between my breathless lips

My hips roll to yours in time

Your blood-stained hands around my neck

The glass shat ter ing

And still you say

I love you
